![]() As expected, food and drinks are expensive but I think the experience would have been much more enjoyable without the crowd. Highly recommend going on a week night so you can actually enjoy the golf at your own pace without being crammed in between holes. Maybe a professional golfer would appreciate the banks and slopes at each hole, but to me it was just adult miniature golf without the “FUN.” I guess I was expecting a more “sophisticated” golf course, but we found it very similar to other miniature golf courses we’ve always been to, but without the windmills, suspension bridges, etc that makes them more entertaining. Rooftop deck allowed a nice view but really showed just how crowded it can be on a busy night. There are drink racks and wet towels at each hole, but people had left their trash behind and on the nearby benches. We observed people in smaller groups playing the holes at normal speed, but then standing in the narrow spaces between the holes to allow others behind them play while still waiting for the big groups to move forward. ![]() There is no monitoring of how many can play in a group, and we saw up to 10 people at a time playing a hole which backed up the line behind them. But realistically if you’re there on a crowded night, you’ll wait about 30 minutes just to START one of the two courses and then spend your time waiting for each hole. Cost is $25 per adult at the door and you can play all day. But on a Saturday evening, the greens are covered with people waiting their turns at each hole and drinks/trash left everywhere. Promo photos appear to show spotless green landscapes with plenty of room. We were excited to see this “revolutionary” golf course designed by Tiger Woods.

![]() This means much of the essence of diplomacy is lost.Īs one diplomat put it, a young diplomat starts working with partner country diplomats at the same level. Videoconference diplomacy allows interaction in the administrative and public oratory modes, but severely limits interaction in the symbolic and ceremonial, group and personal liaison, and intermediary liaison modes. ![]() In an in-person conference setting, there are distinct modes of interaction in which the essence of diplomacy plays a prominent role: the administrative, the symbolic and ceremonial, public oratory, group and personal liaison, and intermediary liaison. They include the primacy of communication in spoken, written and/or symbolic and ceremonial form a mode of thought emphasising patience, precision and deliberation the development of a professional corps of cosmopolitan mediators with appropriate status, skill, and distinction the development between corps a shared sense of purpose, rapport and behaviour, from which a “ stock market of reputation” could form. Over time, these norms became features of diplomatic systems across culture and time. The essence of diplomacy can be understood as the norms facilitating estranged interaction that have remained by and large continuous since humanity’s earliest ancestors met their neighbours, and decided to remain separate, but at peace. There are no breaks, sideline chats, quiet drinks, or steps outside to calm tensions, build rapport, or explore new opportunities. Videoconference diplomacy lacks nuance, subtlety, and the personal touch. According to most diplomats, it serves as an inadequate platform on which to rest the practice of diplomacy. ![]() But the solution was hardly modern, instead based on technologies more than three decades old had anyone bothered to use them. However, videoconference diplomacy was an emergency measure, allowing a propped-up version of the practice to stumble on. Stuck with an inadequate platform, diplomacy needs to innovate. ![]() Unless we request, you can choose not to provide us with certain Personal Information, but that may result in you being unable to use or access certain features of our Platform because such information may be required in order for you to ask a question or initiate other transactions on our Platform. We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. It is one thing to "unlearn" previous habits, but when using things like LTspice (yes analogspiceman, spelled it right), then Tin圜AD, and now KiCAD all the mouse clicks are totally different for each. Why does this wonderful software not give one clues as to what is wrong when something does not work? It would have been a no-brainer for a popup to say something like "File not saved. He figured out that I needed to open the KiCAD as administrator. ARRGGHH!Īgain the local IT guru stepson to the rescue. No clues, no tips, no warnings, the only indication that the file was not saved was a peek into that folder that showed the file was still dated 20Nov2013. ![]() Then I could not save the reworked schematic. With help from the local home IT guru (my stepson) we figured out that the files had to first be loaded into the Programs. Today is a Texas Work-at-Home Ice Day, and to start I could not even get my saved files to work. A couple weeks ago I started to learn KiCAD, then after 2 days got sidetracked into a "more important" project, so saved all the files to my thumb drive to learn later. Between the both of us we got things done. I inspected the layout files and asked for minor changes if needed. I spec'd the trace and dielectric dimensions for impedance control, the PCB layout guru did the work. Last time I did a PCB layout was with blue and red tape on mylar, ever since there has always been a CAD expert that I could sit down with to do the layout. These are just some small things, but they would smooth the interface.Ĭurrently struggling with learning KiCad. I also would like to see the file management options of “Import” and “Export” be contained under the “Open” and “Save As” menus. One thing that is noticeably missing is the native ability to save your schematics to a PDF file (in order to achieve this currently, you would have to install a “Print to PDF” application). Once the schematic is created, it allows for all the parts and their connections to be pushed to the PCB Layout tool.ĭespite all these great features, there are some small items that would be nice improvements. Multi-sheet schematics are also supported. ![]() There is also the ability to import and export schematics in various file formats, though I did not have a chance to evaluate this feature. The Schematic Capture tool supports such things as hierarchical blocks, busses, and net ports. ![]() If you do get stuck, there is a set of both video tutorials as well as a 221-page PDF tutorial that gives an overview of the program. The Schematic Capture tool is relatively intuitive, allowing a first-time user to leap in without any real need to go through tutorials. Let’s see how it meets my outlined criteria…Īssuming all the parts you need are in the standard component library (rather extensive at 100,000+ parts), you can jump right into designing your circuit in the schematic capture tool. I have implemented a handful of projects using the DipTrace design package. This limits me to 300 pins and two signal layers. This free version can be extended under the “non-profit lite license” to 500 pins, though still limited to only two layers (paid versions support more layers).įor the purposes of this review I have chosen to evaluate the basic, free version of the program. When using the free offering, you are limited to 300 pins and two layers. Multi-layer capable (at least 2 layers)ĭipTrace has a free offering for non-commercial use as well as several levels of paid versions intended for commercial purposes. As mentioned in my earlier post, there were six features that I consider to be necessities as follows: This is the first installment of that effort - a review of DipTrace by Novarm. I also promised to share my experiences with each program as I used it. In my previous blog, A Guide to Low Cost PCB Tools, I listed a handful of free to low-cost PCB tool options along with a set of criteria of things that I felt were necessary to have a usable PCB tool that meets my needs. But according to a test by Car and Driver, the GMC Yukon XL takes second place for forward visibility and fourth place (without use of cameras or sensors) for both rear visibility and obscured roadway visibility. ![]() Like most modern vehicles today, the GMC Yukon XL is covered in sensors to help provide warnings when getting close to bump into something and the external cameras provide the extra confidence you’re not going to hit someone or something in a busy parking lot. Braking is smooth even on slippery surfaces.Īnother aspect that takes some getting used to is being aware of how large the vehicle is for backing up and being able to see potential hazards. Steering is easy with standard electronic assisted power steering on a rack and pinion system and is intuitive-meaning, it’s not too loose such as to need to crank the wheel over endlessly for sharper turns and also not twitchy for more subtle maneuvers. ![]() The ride is extremely comfortable as well thanks to the independent coil-over-shock front suspension and solid axle five-link coil springs in the rear, both with GM’s Magnetic Ride Control. Naturally, the open road is where it feels most comfortable but you never forget how big it is thanks to the spacious interior-ideal for long road trips where the driver and passengers alike can stretch out, sprawl, lean, recline and be comfortable for hours on end. But that’s to be expected of such a large vehicle. And with a 43-foot turning circle you’ll want to think about maneuvering in tight spaces before getting stuck or finding yourself in an 100-point turn to get going the other way. So, it takes some getting used to when you first get in and start driving around. With the same dimensions as the Suburban, this is a large vehicle-80 inches (6’ 8”) wide and 224 inches (18’ 8”) long. The starting price for the 2019 Yukon XL, the SLE trim, is $52,200. As driven, this vehicle priced at $80,190. In another bout of irony, we also got to test drive the GMC Yukon XL on a visit to Jackson, Wyoming, but this time it was just my wife and me so we had way more room than we needed.įor the ski trip in Colorado we were in the all black 2018 GMC Yukon XL Denali – 4WD with the 6.2L V8 EcoTec3 Engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. Still, the internal space was hugely appreciated for getting all of our ski gear (if you’ve been following these reviews, you already know we’re a family of four with two kids under four years old-that equates to a good amount of gear). And for our GMC Yukon XL test we drove from Boulder to Snowmass to go skiing but did not have a trailer to tow. ![]() Ironically, for our testing, we had the Chevy Suburban for when we were towing an Airstream Trailer (albeit their small version, the Basecamp). ![]() The main difference? Are you towing more often than not? If so, then the Yukon is probably the way to go. They’re similar in size, styling and offering of extras (though, it varies on what features are included in any given trim and what needs to be purchased separately). These ran in parallel until GMC rebranded it and introduced the Yukon XL nameplate for the 2000 model year. The Yukon XL shares a similar history with the Suburban, and was actually called such when GMC rolled it out in 1937, just two years after the Chevy Suburban came on the scene. They’re not totally wrong considering they’re both owned and made by General Motors and both built in the same assembly line in Arlington, Texas. Some will be quick to point out that the GMC Yukon XL is the same as a Chevy Suburban. ![]() Giant octopus attacking ship and big ocean wave hand drawing vintage engraving illustration for tattoo.
